Power, Not Fear: A Reflection from the Heart of 4:8 Physio

As I sit down to write this, my heart is filled with both gratitude and vulnerability. Owning and leading 4:8 Physio is an honor beyond words, a calling that stretches me daily in ways I never anticipated. Balancing the roles of business owner, leader, wife, mother, and friend can feel overwhelming. There are days when the weight of responsibilities feels heavier than I can carry, and fear creeps in, whispering doubts about my ability to manage it all.

Recently, I reflected on a devotional (that an awesome client sent me) centered around 2 Timothy 1:7:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

This verse pierced through my heart, reminding me that fear does not come from God.

Fear of failure,

fear of inadequacy,

fear of the unknown-

these are not my burdens to bear. God has equipped me with power, love, and a sound mind to face each challenge with courage and grace.

At 4:8 Physio, my mission is to help others recover physically, and I hope, in some small way, to uplift their mental well-being,  too, and most importantly to point them to Jesus Christ. What I didn’t fully anticipate was how profoundly I would be blessed by the very clients I aim to support. Witnessing their tenacity, grit, and commitment to hard work is nothing short of inspiring. Their journeys, marked by perseverance through pain and setbacks, encourage me more than they know. Their presence is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and it fuels my own determination to keep pushing forward.

There are moments when I question if I'm doing enough, if I'm leading well, or if I’m balancing my roles effectively. But then I remember that fear causes us to doubt what God has clearly told us to do. I am exactly where I am supposed to be, in His perfect timing and plan. Trusting in God’s plan doesn’t mean the absence of struggle; it means having faith that He is with me in the midst of it.

As I continue this journey, I pray not just for the strength to lead and serve but also for the courage to lean into God’s promises. I ask Him to free me from fears that hold me back and to open my eyes to the reality of His presence in every situation. Through His guidance, I find the grace to continue in obedience, even when the path feels uncertain.

To my clients, thank you for showing up, for working hard, and for being a source of encouragement. You are not just patients; you are reminders of the strength that resides in each of us, given o us by the Holy Spirit. And to anyone reading this who feels overwhelmed by fear, remember: God has given you a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind. Lean into that truth, and you’ll find the courage to face whatever comes your way.

With gratitude and faith,

Dr. Molly Gray, DPT
